Awesome Vacation Sublet for Young ProfessionalsStudents in Apt Share East Village 50 1bd

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/NqzCX)
Hi! I'm going to be at a conference between June 20-July 10, so i am looking to sublet my room in a fabulous three bedroom apartment for that time period. The rent is $50 which includes all utilities. This is a great way to save money if you are vacationing and want a *huge* step up from a dirty NYC hostel to a comfy home without paying a *huge* step up from that hostel. Needless to say, it is much cheaper than an NYC hotel. I am a grad student just looking to recuperate some rent money while I'm gone.

Our apartment is in East Village, Manhattan located on 9th and C with private balcony overlooking a huge community garden. This is ideal for people who would like to be in the East Village for access to the action, but also a comfy and relatively quiet home (due to the garden). Enjoy access to all the bars, eclectic restaurants, cute shops, and nightlife 1 block away, but get a good night's sleep! Many people must sleep with a noise machine in NYC, but luckily we do not. We also have roof access for a fabulous view of downtown and midtown Manhattan, which is great for parties!

The Apartment:

This is a large apartment for East Village standards. My bedroom is 1 of 3 bedrooms of approximately equal size. My bedroom easily fits the double bed, bureau, shelves, desk, and inlaid closet (2 pictures show the room below). Spacious kitchen/living room with dishwasher, oven, microwave, etc. In other words, it is a real kitchen, not hotplates and a sink like many apartments in the Village. Real, regular-sized bathroom with bathtub (this is also rare for the Village). Balcony with Empire State Building view, overlooking the large garden (for me, the highlight). 3rd floor walk up (2nd floor to non-Americans). Laundry in building, place to store bikes in the cellar. Roof access with breathtaking view of midtown Manhattan and the financial district.

The Area:

Here live a lot of artists, young professionals, students - a sizable amount of more permanent New Yorkers. It is not touristy like some parts of the Village. We are located 1 block from the East River Park where you can jog or bike down to the Brooklyn Bridge or further to Battery Park. It is located 1 block from Tompkins Square Park, a large park with drum circles, cirque de soleil troops, and a Sunday farmer's market. We have all amenities within a block or two from the apartment: 2 supermarkets, coffee houses (my favorite, the famous: http://ping.fm/Qt0fc ), pizza, Chinese, a German beerhouse, a quaint little jazz club, a Brazilian cafe with daily live samba music, a Cuban grill, bars, the list could go on forever! The subway is a 10 minute walk (1st Ave L) and there are a few convenient buses stopping a block away - but if you live in East Village, you won't want to leave too often! The area is very safe (police station 1 block away), which was very important to us in the selection as young females.

Me:

I am a 28 year old female doing my Ph.d. in politics at NYU, originally from Atlanta. I am very tidy, but not obsessive.

Roommates:

The other 2 bedrooms are occupied by a guy and a girl who are also grad students.

Requirements:

(1) The sublease must be for *at least* 1 week, and preferably for all three weeks!

(2) You should be a young professional or student, and respectful in the common areas of the apartment. You should be also be friendly! Sorry, no smoking or pets.

(3) A security deposit of $200 will be required to confirm the rental.

Please send an email - include a brief description of yourself and your dates - and any other details, if seriously interested. I can respond with more pictures of the apt and surrounding area, and speak on the phone or facebook so we can firm up plans.

Good luck with your search!
