GOLF:



There are over 120 golf courses in the Coachella Valley. The Kraft/Nabisco Tournament and the Bob Hope Celebrity Tournament are held here annually.



TENNIS



There are over 1000 outdoor tennis courts in the Coachella Valley including hard courts, grass courts and hard true courts. The Indian Wells (BNP Paribas) Open is held here (in March), as well as the Easter Bowl (in April), which is one of the two most important events for juniors.



CASINOS



There are several casinos in the Coachella Valley. Spa Resort Casino is in downtown Palm Springs. Casino Morongo is 20 miles west of downtown Palm Springs. Spotlight 29 Casino is located in just east of Palm Desert in Indio on the Interstate 10. Fantasy Springs Casino is located in downtown Palm Springs. Shilimar Sports Center, presented by Fantasy Springs, offers simulcast racing from many famous racing parks. Agua Caliente Casino is located in Rancho Mirage on the Interstate 10. Many of the Casinos, in addition to traditional gaming activities, also have big name entertainment.



CULTURE



The Coachella Valley is home to the McCallum Theatre (in Palm Desert) , the Annenberg Theatre (in Palm Springs), the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Palm Springs International Film Festival (in January), the Palm Springs Follies, two foreign film theaters, the Palme d?Or in Palm Desert, and the Camelot in Palm Springs. Palm Desert has a rich variety of art on display throughout the city in public places.



OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES



The Coachella Valley has an incredible assortment of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed throughout the year because of its beautiful weather and the incredible variety of its landscape. These activities include hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, hot air balloon rides, Jeep tours, rock climbing, and bicycling.



SPECIAL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES



The Coachella Valley has some special attractions which have proven to be very interesting to tourists and residents alike.



In Palm Springs is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which goes up 8,500 feet towards the top of Mount San Jacinto. Palm Desert is the home of the beautiful Living Desert which is a favorite of plant and animal lovers.





The Palm Springs Air Museum has a hugh collection of WWII vintage planes on display. Many of these planes are often taken up in the air for visitors to watch.



The COD (College of the Desert) street fair, which is located on Monterey Ave. in Palm Desert, occurs every Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Palm Springs street fair, which is on Palm Canyon Dr, takes place every Thursday evening from 6:00 - 9: 00 PM.



Palm Springs is the ?home? of almost 5,000 windmills. Educational tours can be arranged to see these unusual structures.



The Childern?s discovery Museum in Rancho Mirage is a wonderful ?hands on? place for young children to play and learn.
